Vienna has been chosen as the host city for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in May 2026.

The confirmation came from ORF, the Austrian broadcaster, and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

It marks the first time since 2018 that a country’s capital city has been selected to host the Contest, when Lisbon, Portugal hosted.

It was also announced that the Grand Final will take place on Saturday May 16th, with the two semi-finals taking place on Tuesday May 12th and Thursday May 14th.

Vienna had been up against Innsbruck in the bid for hosting duties, after a months-long competition, which also for a time involved potential bids from other cities including Graz, Oberwart and Wels and Linz.

The three live shows, three jury shows, and three family shows will all take place in the Wiener Stadhalle – the same venue where Eurovision 2015 was held.

Tickets for the shows are expected to go on sale in December, with the stage design to be revealed beforehand.

Vienna launched its official bid to host Eurovision 2026 on July 3rd, with the slogan “Europe, shall we dance?”.

Not much else is currently known about Vienna’s plans for hosting Eurovision 2026 – including locations of the Eurovision Village and EuroClub.

In 2015, the Eurovision Village was at the Rathausplatz, 25 minutes away from the Stadhalle by public transport.

EuroClub, which at the time was more exclusive than in recent years, was located in Ottakringer Brauerei, a family-run brewery, 15 minutes from the Stadhalle.
